7 June 2024 - Happy World Food Safety Day!

World Food Safety Day helps to raise awareness about the importance of food safety and to promote action to prevent, detect and manage foodborne risks.

This year’s theme “Prepare for the unexpected” draws attention to food safety incidents and underlines the importance of being prepared for food safety incidents, no matter the severity.

Effective management of food safety incidents requires dedicated and collaborative efforts from food business operators, policy makers, food safety authorities, farmers and consumers. DFSV’s vision to ensure the safety and integrity of Victoria’s dairy products, which is demonstrated through our key functions such as monitoring and compliance with food safety programs and providing technical advice and guidance to licensees, helps to support our licensees to prepare for the unexpected.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) have developed a communication toolkit to support World Food Safety Day, including myth buster cards and more, which is available here.
