Maintaining dairy food safety in flood conditions

DFSV recognises that both farmers and manufacturing sites have been affected to varying degrees by recent flooding events occurring predominantly across Northern Victoria.

DFSV is working with Dairy Australia and other industry and government organisations to provide support and assist licensees as they face this challenging scenario, including commencement of their recovery actions.

At this stage, Dairy Australia has initiated Regional Issues Response Teams in affected areas, provided useful extension materials and resources focusing on flood-affected farming, promoted shared communication resources applicable for dairy farmers and provided advice on recovery and support funding. Any farmer or manufacturer facing issues or concerns which may affect food safety are encouraged to call DFSV directly or through their nominated Food Safety Manager. DFSV is currently contacting potentially affected licensees to reaffirm this message.
